@TrevorGoodchild And those that live through this will have learned nothing, never recognizing that karma is real. To them it will be another Shoah, another example of antisemitism, hatred for Jews that simply manifested out of thin air. "We've been kicked out of every country we've ever been in, and it's never been our fault." I think in the end the inability or refusal to self reflect is the hardest thing to wrap my head around. All people can be cruel or venal or annoying or greedy, but to be so completely blinded to your own short comings ... I spent most of my life beating myself up, spending way too much time analyzing my actions, looking for mistakes I'd made. It's difficult to really put myself in the shoes of someone who never does that. I kind of understand it in an abstract way, but it's like reading about being in zero G without ever having been in space yourself.

@DireGoy Back when I ran a store, if I caught a shop lifter and called the cops, they seemed to take forever to come. One day I caught someone trying to pass a bad $20. The guy left on foot, but he had pissed me off, so I called the cops. I figured on the outside chance a cop got there in time, they could chase him down. Cop showed up just under 2 minutes. There had been shootings on that street that didn't get that kind of response time. I gave him a description of the guy, and he was off. Some days later I asked a customer I knew was a cop why that other officer had responded so quickly. He said it was probably because passing funny money might lead to a federal charge, and busting someone for a federal crime would look good on the cop's resume. I t could take 12 or 15 minutes to respond to a shooting, and 20 or more to come pick up a shop lifter, but the junkie passing a fake bill meant they got their ass in gear. Self interest made them get off their ass. Same probably applies here. Some gang member kids shoot each other at school? Shrug, what's new? Well, let's go deal with it I guess. Attack at a synagogue? Holy shit! That's going to be national news. The boss will chew my ass out if I don't get there and protect the Jews. And if I'm lucky, I'll do something important and get some good boy points. Think what it could do for my career! Anyways, after that, anytime some homeless guy was hassling my customers for change or I caught a shoplifter, I would call the cops and say "and I think he has some counterfeit money on him too", just to speed up the response time.

@TrevorGoodchild The real question for me is, why would you want to rule a country that has mosquitoes that thick in the air, and people that poor and stupid? Who wants to be emperor of the land of poop, 60 IQ jeets, and garbage?

@ArmchairEconomist01@poa.st @Terry@poa.st That would mean taking responsibility for something, and if there is anyone in the world more adverse to taking responsibility for their actions than a lefty woman, it's a politician. Whenever possible, a politician will hide their vote, shift responsibility, delay, dissemble, etc. Anything the public could possibly hold them account for is sent to committees, boards, regulatory agencies, etc. Back when the Soviet Union collapsed and everyone started making noises about a "peace dividend", it was agreed that many military bases should be closed. After all, communism was dead or dying, and the money spend on the Cold War could go other places. The problem was, no Congress-critter wanted his name on a bill that closed a base in their district, because that would bite them in the ass come re-election. So what Congress did was to create another advisory body that would decide what bases to close, what to keep, and what to reduce in size. The shuffled the hard decision off to someone else, voted on whatever was put before them, and could claim their hands were tied when people back home got angry that their base was vanishing. It's the same way with declaring war. None of them can be certain how this or any other war will turn out. They can't be sure if the people will end up supporting it or if they'll hate it. So instead of standing on principle, they mumble platitudes, but let the President do whatever the fuck he wants. If it works out they can say they were on his side the whole time. If it is a disaster, the guy in the White House is responsible for the entire mess. Congressmen and Senators get to keep their jobs with minimal effort and minimal risk.

@BroDrillard Viagra wouldn't help keep the erection. One of the things the prostate does is it clamps down such that it traps blood in in the penis when you get aroused. Without it you can get hard, but it quickly deflates. It's one of the reasons guys with enlarged prostates are often hesitant to get it removed. Doing so either makes having sex very difficult or impossible.

@BroDrillard Slightly different tangent; If you lose your prostate, you largely lose the ability to maintain an erection. If he was constantly fucking women and kids, he would have to use certain appliances to keep doing that after the operation.

@NoDoxGregBrady I'm willing to entertain the idea that at least some of these .. phenomena, are evil spirit creatures. And I don't doubt any disclosure we get from the Orange Goofball will be limited, largely useless, and done to help distract from other, more pressing problems. That said, I find it kind of hard to believe that God, a being defined by His infinite nature, would create this giant ass universe then only create intelligent life on this one tiny planet. Out of a 100 billion galaxies with 100 billion suns each, stretching across at least 14 billion years ... and somehow we're the entire focus of all that? I believe God loves us, but I'm reticent to believe we that unbelievably special. We call god the Creator. If God is defined by His infinite nature (infinite power, intelligence, wisdom, etc.), then I would assume His creative impulse is just as expansive. No artist paints just one painting and leaves it at that. No sculpture creates just one statue then retires. The universe is one hell of a big canvas. It seems kind of silly for God to take that canvas, put one little blue dot down in one corner, then call it a day. If we were all there is in terms of intelligent mortal life, why create so much extra empty, sterile space? A father can have many children, and he can love all of them. Whatever bullshit we get from Trump, it's certain there will be much more to the story. I think it would be foolish for any of us to assume we know the full, complete truth of it.

It's also the natural and necessary response to evil, which by it's very nature threatens the things you love. In this way, hate is no different than pain. You burn your hand in a flame, and you jerk it back in response. Something hurts the thing you love, or evil reveals itself, and you instantly hate it.
